Why investigation comes first
Water enters an envelope somewhere other than where it appears inside, frequently stories away. A repair aimed at the symptom can be executed perfectly and still fail, because it was never in the water's path.
So we investigate and water test before we scope anything. It costs money, it produces no visible work, and it is the difference between one repair and three.
Why we test afterwards
The alternative is waiting for the next storm. If it leaks again the owner has lost months, the interior damage has continued, and nobody knows whether the repair failed or a second path exists.
Most of the industry does not test after repair. The honest reason is that a test can show the repair did not work, which is exactly why it is worth doing.
What we will not do
Overband a failing sealant joint. Coat over an unresolved entry path. Install a membrane over a slab that needs repair. Seal the weeps on a drained glazing system.
Each of those looks like a repair, buys a season, and makes the eventual proper work more expensive.

Romco Builders is a licensed Florida general contractor. We do not issue manufacturer warranties; we install so that they are not voided and tell owners plainly what one does and does not cover.
